Letter from the President of the Law Society

Letter from the Chair of the Bar Council
Letter from the Secret Barrister

I am delighted to welcome you to this year’s SPRUCE Course. The Law Society wholeheartedly supports the work that Bradford Crown Court does to support the future of the legal profession.

I hope the course will give you all a fantastic insight into working in the law and leave you even more committed to pursuing a career in this field. The legal profession has always been adaptable and capable of responding to changing circumstances and new challenges.

For those who set upon the path to become a lawyer, you will be faced with unprecedented challenges, unlike those faced by your predecessors in years gone by. Indeed, you have already faced significant challenges because of the Covid-19 pandemic, such as having to study remotely. The resilience you have shown already in adapting to these strange circumstances will serve you well in your future careers and I hope you can draw some strength from this.

To have an effective justice system, it is essential that legal professionals reflect the clients they serve and that we ensure that talented individuals can progress in the practice of law, whatever their background. The Law Society is deeply committed to promoting equality and inclusion across the legal sector, and if you decide to train as a solicitor, we will support you at every stage of your career.

I hope you all enjoy the course and I wish you the best of luck in your future careers.
